Bio

I'm Andy, and while you might find me more comfortable in the pool than on the rugby pitch (although the never-ending list of injuries might tell a different story!), I bring the same level of passion to everything I do. Whether it's running the digital side of things at rugbystuff.com, volunteering with the Border Water Rescue Team, or conquering the open water as a Master Swimmer, I'm all about dedication and a challenge.

Speaking of challenges, I spent most of my rugby days playing for Craigmount High School, with the occasional senior game for Forrester thrown in for good measure. But my true sporting love has always been swimming. Back in the day, I even came within seconds of qualifying for the Scotland Commonwealth Games in the 1500m freestyle! These days, I compete as a Masters Swimmer and enjoy the thrill of open water swims.

Recently, I made the move to the beautiful Scottish Borders, the heartland of rugby in Scotland as everyone knows! Here, I enjoy a slower pace of life, and there's nothing better than a long country walk with my two border collies, Joey and Izzy, by my side.

Rugby is another lifelong passion. I relish the atmosphere of away Six Nations games, and the 2017 British & Irish Lions tour to New Zealand was an absolute dream come true. But let's be honest, once-in-a-lifetime trips have a habit of turning into traditions, so Australia in 2025 is already on the horizon!

So, if you ever wondered who keeps the website running smoothly, makes sure your rugby news is factually sound (and grammatically perfect!), or jumps in to lend a hand with water rescues, then that's me! I wear many hats, but at the end of the day, I'm just a guy who loves a challenge, the great outdoors, and of course, a good rugby game (from the comfort of the stands these days!).
