Bio

With a rugby career spanning over two decades, I’ve witnessed the game evolve while maintaining an unwavering passion for the sport.

Starting as a stand-off in Junior Rugby, I was devastated the day I got sent to the pack, although being a foot taller and a stone heavier than my peers, I should have seen it coming!

By senior rugby, I was established as a prop, albeit a small one, so dedication to the gym was essential. My journey through the pack also included a brief, lung-busting stint in the second row and even a couple of games as a flanker. Though my natural home was ultimately in the front row, as a more natural ball-carrying loose head. I was often required to play tight head, unfortunately, I lacked the overall size and brute force needed for that position, something my brother had in abundance! Playing alongside him was pretty hard to beat, looking back.

Off the pitch, my world revolves around family and fun. When I’m not immersed in the world of Peebles RFC, dealing with the dreaded club membership or helping with 1st XV management, I’m chasing after my two daughters, who are currently more interested in gymnastics and football than rugby (although I’m hopeful that will change!). I also enjoy the occasional round of golf, although I freely admit to being a hopeless beginner. The rugby and golf temperaments don’t really marry up!

Travel and rugby have been inseparable companions for me. I’ve relished the camaraderie and adventure of rugby tours, particularly the over-35s trips to Prague and Brignoles. Despite the inevitable bumps and bruises, these experiences have created unforgettable memories. Attending away Six Nations matches and witnessing the spectacle of Rugby World Cups in England and France have been further highlights.

My deep-rooted connection to rugby, combined with my entrepreneurial spirit, has fuelled the creation of Rugbystuff Clubhouse. I’m excited to share my knowledge, passion, and love for the game with fellow rugby enthusiasts through this platform.
